The course Orientation to Clinical Training, Basics of Intravenous Fluid Therapy is attached to the theory course Intravenous Fluid Therapy and Blood Transfusion, the study material and course literature from the course are part of this course.

-manages to prepare an IV fluid infusion successfully according to the protocols
- manages to dilute antibiotics/ electrolytes according to protocol in a safe way
- manages to perform IV cannulation successfully

The student will have to demonstrate the skills during the course.
1 ECTS = 27 hours of student's work: 3 contact meetings, practical training, 3x4 hours, and student's independent study.
Due to Covid-10 pandemic the skills stations/ contact meetings will be arranged according to current TAMK guidelines and it is possible that there will be changes during the course
Content and objectives of the course:
the student masters aseptic and safe working manners at all times during practices and when handling the equipment.
the student masters clinical calculations required during the administration of intravenous fluids and medication
the student will be able to prepare an IV infusion set with aseptic and safety manners
the student will be able to prepare IV fluids for intravenous infusion with aseptic and safety manners
the student will be able to prepare intravenous medication infusion/injection with aseptic and safety manners
the student will be able to perform a peripheral cannulation with aseptic and safety manners
the student will be able to give guidance to the patient in relation to intravenous fluid and medication administration
