    Learning outcomes of the course unit
    The student
    - is able to plan, implement and evaluate the monitoring of the client's health, well-being and study ability in cooperation with the client and, if necessary, his/her significant others
    - is able to guide and support clients for health promoting choices and life management
    - is able to guide and support clients in maintaining their ability to study
    - is able to respond to the most common medical needs of clients
    - is able to evaluate the need for special support and further care of the client in cooperation with the client and, if necessary, the multidisciplinary student health group
    - is able to maintain and promote the health and well-being of the learning environment in collaboration with clients, their significant others and other actors
    Prerequisites and co-requisites
    Completed clinical studies in both nursing and anatomy and physiology (135 credits).
    Course contents
    - psychosocial development of juveniles and young adults
    - student public health nursing
    - periodic health examinations for students
    - student health counselling (individual and group level)
    - students' most common health problems (youth medicine)
    - early detection of mental disorders, care and follow-up guidance
    - early detection, treatment and follow-up treatment of substance abuse problems
    - promoting students’ sexual health
    - student health care as part of public health nursing
    - working methods: mini-intervention, anticipation dialogues (multidisciplinary work)

    - manages the key contents of the student's periodic health examinations

    - has the right knowledge but facts are unattached at a level of recognition, and the reasons are inadequate

    - observes the examination of the student's health only from a limited point of view

    - perceives inadequately the specific needs of an individual student

    - is able to use evidence-based knowledge and is able to explain issues from many different perspectives

    - is able to use the client’s perspective in a versatile way

    - is able to identify the most important special needs of a student

    - understands the role of the student health service as part of public health nursing
