    Learning outcomes of the course unit
    The student
    -knows the phases and the cost structure of the wood supply process
    -knows the cut-to-length method, harvesting methods and wood storage at the roadside
    -knows how to interpret a harvesting plan and how to choose the trees to be removed in a thinning and understands how harvesting method affects the yield
    Course contents
    Wood supply organizations and other actors, phases of wood supply chain, harvesting methods, dimensional and quality requirements of different timber grades, bucking recommendations, wood storage at the roadside, timber price at the roadside, occupational safety in forestry, terminology of wood supply
    Assessment criteria
    Satisfactory

    The student is familiar with the main phases of wood procurement process. The student knows the logging plan. He / she can select trees to be removed in thinning.

    Good

    The student knows the wood procurement process and its phases and understands how the wood procurement costs are formed. The student knows how to use a logging plan as a wood procurement tool.

    Excellent

    The student has a good command of the whole wood procurement process and its phases and knows how the costs are formed in the supply chain. The student is able to make a logging plan for the felling site. The student is able to choose the trees to be removed by thinning, taking into account different characteristics of the tree stand.
