Study objectives
A graduate from the programme in mechanical engineering is an expert in designing mechanical engineering products and managing production. Technology is a global market and so the degree programme focuses on international skills in mechanical engineering. There are several companies within the Pirkanmaa region which specialise in e.g. industrial vehicles and mechanical engineering.
The full-time study of mechanical engineering starts with the basics of natural sciences and professional studies. During the first two years you will gain the basic skills in physics and mathematics as well as statistics, strength of materials, engine components and computer assisted design. You will get the necessary practical skills through laboratory work in material technology, welding, machining, machine installation and machine automation.
Career opportunities
Bachelors of Engineering from the degree programme in mechanical engineering work in production, automation and machine design tasks as well as in design, production, usage, maintenance, marketing, training and management. They work in an international environment in engineering works, design agencies, in technical marketing and as sole traders.
The degree gives eligibility for master’s degrees.
Assessment of study performances is based on TAMK’s assessment criteria
